Eadie Hill Trial Lawyers has filed another complaint against the Life Care Centers of Medina. This is one of three lawsuits that the law firm is currently pursuing. The law firm previously filed a complaint on behalf of the estate of Janet Wallace, you can read an article on this case here. (Update: a third case has been filed against the Life Care Center of Medina by Eadie Hill Trial Lawyers, you can access that article here).
The Life Care Center of Medina is a two-star facility in Medina, Ohio. Joan Strnad was a resident at this facility and the Estate of Joan Strnad has filed suit against the Life Care Center of Medina and its operatives for the wrongful death of Joan.
According to the complaint, Joan was abandoned on the toilet, though the staff at the Life Care Center of Medina knew that she required assistance when using the restroom to keep her safe. While she was completely alone, she fell and broke both of her legs and suffered a traumatic head injury. She died two days later. Sadly, for Joan this was not the first time the staff at the Life Care Center of Medina had allowed her to fall at their facility.

Underlying Causes
According to Eadie Hill Trial Lawyer’s complaint, the underlying causes of this case are systemic understaffing which led to the negligence and recklessness in the care of Joan Strnad. Further, the nursing home used misleading advertising to attract victims like Joan and her family.
Systemic Understaffing
Life Care Centers of Medina failed to ensure, through their operational, budgetary, and managerial decisions and actions failed to ensure that the facility was properly staffed to care for their residents who were there because they required a level of care that could not be provided at home.
This is problematic for all residents, but especially problematic for residents who lack the ability to move about and preform necessary bodily functions without assistance—Like Joan Strnad.
When facilities are not properly staffed, the residents are almost always the ones who suffer. This case is no different. The lack of staff available to Joan directly resulted in her not receiving the basic (and absolutely necessary) services to prevent neglect leading to multiple falls, injuries, and sadly her death.
These are choices that nursing home owners, administrators, and managers made that DIRECTLY affected the care that this woman, and more than likely other residents based on their rating.
